A new friend who works in my a building, Sam, told me to visit the festival since she was volunteering at it. Michael had just flown in to visit so I dragged him and my roommate, Dave Topher, along too. The food was excellent and we were welcomed, despite sticking out like a sore thumb (if only we had happi coats). People thought we were just random tourist, which I guess was partially true. (No, of course I did not steal these words right off of Topher's Blog. Although if you want to know what is going on in these pictures you should probably check out Topher's Blog)
The dancing had already started when we arrived.
Some dances required props like these towels and later they used fans.
People of all ages danced.
In the middle of this picture you can see the big drum that people would take turns playing to the rhythm.
Here are some of the fans that were used. And you can see traditional dress was not mandatory.
This is the shortest post I have had in a long time, maybe even since my first post. Don't worry I'm sure I'll make up for it soon. The next few post will feature two special guest!
