I had to make my final Kalikimaka post a good one so here is Christmas Hawaiian style.. the story of Christmas while on a canoe ride. On December 22 I found out it was the last evening for the Christmas Canoe rides at the Polynesian Culture Center. Having gone to the awesome Halloween canoe ride, Haunted Lagoon, I knew I had to check out the Christmas edition and it lived up to my expectations.
I got to the PCC around 7:45 pm. I pulled up to the parking lot attendant and he said, There is one spot left, drive all the way to the back. It was the farthest possible spot from the front doors. When I made it to the front desk they said they were closing the ticket both because it was going to be at least a three hour wait. I said I'd wait and after I bought my ticket they closed the ticket window. I pondered leaving but I didn't have anything else to do that night so I stayed. It turned out to be a two hour wait for a half hour ride, worth it to me.
While waiting in line excited kids passed by on the train as it went back and forth. The drive looked like he could have driven the path with his eyes closed by now.
Waiting in line
A couple of pictures from the bridge overlooking the dock.
Almost there!
I made it on the boat.
The first half of the ride was about the guiding star to Jesus' birth. As introduced by this father to his son.
We began to follow the star.
The angel appearing to Joseph to tell him of the son of God.
The Three Wise Men following the star and singing Oh Holy Night.
Mary looking for some place to stay for the night.
This is the angle telling the shepherds to follow the star.
We also followed the star to here.
The second half of the ride was a celebration of Christmas around the world.
A traditional Indian dance to a Christmas tune.
Representing a Korea Christmas...
...With what else but the Gangnam Style dance.
There were a lot of lights!
Even the abominable snowmen got into this dance.
Santa and Mrs. Claus wave while it snows.
The large Surfing Santa decoration outside the PCC.
Here's a picture of my car. It's not the car you can see, it's the little white dot above that car in the distance.
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas in Hawaii posts. Here are a few final pictures.
The Sunday before Christmas at University of Hawaii's Newman Center.
Riding my bike to midnight mass. That was certainly a first.
Just like a midnight mass should be, standing room only and starts at 12:00am.
Christmas dinner was a success with Topher and his family.
A quality Cincy Style Christmas present.
Thanks for all the Cards!
My tree made it till Christmas without losing many needles at all and it is still green, for the most part.
Mahalo for viewing. I'll now return you to your usual months behind blog posts.
(New years resolution: Get my blog up to date.)
