Polynesian Culture for the Fryer's

Title

Our next visitors were our friends, CJ and Danielle. They were in Hawaii for around two weeks so they got a lot of sight seeing done. They came prepared to catch all those memories in photos, as they brought four cameras with them. Since they had the picture taking covered most of the pictures in my up coming blogs were taken mainly by Danielle with some taken by CJ and only a couple by me. (Well I took the first 7 pictures here but after that you can thank our visitors for these sights of Hawaii.)

Our first big location to visit was Sacred Hearts Academy. I know it's not the first place you think of when you go to Hawaii but if you're a big fan of a certain show filmed on Hawaii you would be excited.

I'm posting a few pictures of the Chapel here but there will be more pictures of it in a later post.

Here is the courtyard outside of the Chapel.

Our new visitors moved in.

A more touristy place is next on the list, The Polynesian Cultural Center. (Here is my attempt at a 3D-ish picture, it looks better from farther away.)

Here is a Taro plant growing in the PCC. These plants were very important in Hawaii as they were a large source of food called poi. Poi is still 'enjoyed' by locals but mainly because they trick tourist into eating it. If you ever visit Hawaii make sure you try some!

This guy is showing us how the coconut was used in many ways, including how it helped in creating fire.

This guy is preparing to jump to the adjacent tree... Turns out he had more sense than that.

This is the East facing door of The Chief's house. It was important to know which direction the doors faced because if you walked into the chief's house from the West you would be killed. Think about that the next time you walk in an out.

Here are some great shots of the canoe parade courtesy of Danielle.

I know these two guys!

I don't know these two but they were entertaining.

Boating under the Elvis Tree.

This was our nice Ambassador tour guide, What's-her-name. (Need a little help CJ or Danielle.) She was a great guide and the part I liked the best was that she didn't check my ticket so I got to go on the ambassador tour with CJ and Daneille. Not that I shouldn't have been allowed, I was given a golden sticker by the nice ticket lady (That's what I liked the most about our ticket lady).

Look at these handsome heads.
