The horses don't actually swim

When I think Hawaiian sports I think of surfing and University of Hawaii football. However I was excited to learn there was another sport played here, Polo. I have never been to a polo match before and I thought it sounded rather exciting. Our neighbors also wanted to go so one nice afternoon we hopped in the car and headed for the field.

I know what you're thinking, where is the pool for the polo match. Turns out when horses play polo they use a really big field instead.

Our view from our super awesome VIP section. That's right we had special seats just because we are that cool... and because our neighbor found out she knows the owner and manager of the field and league. That's the official game ball in the middle our our table.

We were basically treated like celebrates and got a private tour of the stables.

The horses were all very nice and excited to meet us.

And as you can tell from Topher's face, we were happy to meet them as well.

This guy even smiled for a picture.

This is a goal and a few practice balls.

The stands. Our VIP table has it's own tent. It's the one on the right.

Our neighbor got to throw out the first ball of the game.

And the game is on!

The winner's circle.

We were even invited to the players dinner after the game, which had some ono grinds.

Mahalo neighbor for getting us such a nice day.

  1. Dave, Thanks for sharing your photos. It is nice seeing some of the things we did not see while we were there visiting.
