On my Journey of seeing everything Hawaii has to offer while I live here, I decided I should go to all the State Botanical gardens. This is the Koko Crater Garden. I have posted a picture of it before but it was a view from much higher up. One interesting thing about this garden is that it is all inside Koko Crater.
Whoever made this sidewalk must of had something against straight lines.
We'll start off with a few things you would expect to see in a garden, like these Orange Flowers.
Pink Plumaria
Here is a view of some flowers with the crater wall in the background. You'll may notice the wall in many of my pictures since it goes all the way around me.
These are just a few trees that I thought looked interesting.
Noble Aloe
Encephalartos sp
Dragon's Blood Tree
Creepy looking flower
Sausage Tree
This looked like a great spot to do a little reading.
This tree was "infected" with cactus growing out of it.
That's right I said cactus, in Hawaii. I never thought of cactus and Hawaii going together, but there was a lot of cactus in this garden. There is also a fair amount in other parts of Hawaii.
Barrel drum cactus at the bottom.
This is definitely not a bush you want to fall into. It looks viscous.
Octopus Agave
Moringa
This Giant Yucca was about 25-30 feet tall.
Here's a picture that looks more Hawaiian. The State Flower, the Hibiscus.
I'll just round out this post with a couple more flowers I saw on my way out of the crater.
Purple Plumaria
It's time to go when the sprinklers come one.
