A Visit to Disney's Aulani

I had not visited the west coast yet, so while I was borrowing a car I headed to the leeward side. I went to the Ko Olina area. This is in the Southwest and is where the resorts are on this side of the island.

It's a lot drier on this side of the island.

Driving past the new Disney Aulani Resort. But more on that a little later.

There is a lot of newer construction in this area and a lot of the houses look alike. It's kind of eerie.

I made it to the beach. There are four man made lagoons here that are great for swimming.  However I wanted to do some snorkeling.

The better snorkeling is done outside of the lagoons so after searching around for a while I found a spot to enter the water.

I found this cool shell that something was living in. The shell was about five inches long.

This fish was much longer.

There was a lots of sea life swimming around with me.

I snorkeled along the coast for a mile until I made it past all the lagoons.

Then I got out to see Aulani. Which has the most amazing pool area I have ever seen. There is even a three tiered hot-tub.

This is the fish tank with coral and Hawaiian fish that you can snorkel in.

The stingray tank was closed while I was there, but I could see them swimming around.

An amazing fish pond right behind the lobby.

Lets see ... 10, 11, 12, 14... you know what floor you're really on.

A view of the fish pond.

This is the lazy river and the snorkel pool in the back.

This is the mountain in the middle of the pool area. It has slides, water falls, and pools through out it. And of course that's the ocean in the background.

The rooms here look nice.

And they have Mickey!

Here is the view out the other side of the resort.

The lobby

I found Stitch!

As I left Aulani I passed this nice fire place.

I started walking back along the lagoons; I saw a few wedding chapels.

This was the most unique chapel.

I wouldn't mind having a grill out, here!

One of the lagoons.

This photographer needed just the right angle.

  1. Hey! I snorkeled in that lagoon too! I also photo-bombed the wedding pictures they were taking. Somewhere, there's a Japanese couple with a professional wedding pic that has me creepin' in the background... ;)
