When my parents were visiting we took a walking tour of the Honolulu. We took a bus to chinatown then walked where we wanted from there.
Here is a map of the 3.4 miles we walked.
Turns out we did not take any good pictures of chinatown so this first picture is with Aloha Tower in the background.
The Aloha Tower was a lighthouse that is considered one of the landmarks of the state of Hawaii.
The next few pictures are taken from Aloha Tower. The tower was opened on September 11, 1926 at a then astronomical cost of $160,000
There is a lawn on top of that building!
At 10 stories or 184 feet of height topped with 40 feet of flag mast, the Aloha Tower was the tallest structure in Hawaii for four decades.
Decorating the palm trees with Christmas lights!
Then on our walk we saw some fishes.
I looks like we were snorkeling but this is just what you see when you look down at the boat docks by Aloha Tower.
St Andrew's Cathedral Episcopal Church
"This memorial is dedicated to the men and women of the state of Hawaii who have served in the armed forces of the United States"
I did not actually take any good pictures of the Memorial on this day but you can see some of it in the background of this picture.
This is the front of the State Capital building.
This is "inside" the Capital building.
If you watch Hawaii five-0 you have seen this guy. This is a statue of King Kamehameha.
This is the post office. The inside was also used as a LOST filming location.
This is the Missions Homes Museum which was closed when we got there.
It was a nice walk with many great things to look at. I did however leave out my pictures of Iolani Palace as that is going to be my next post.
